When the PTA gets involved, all children benefit and as most things in our children’s life, it starts with us – the parents. When you join your local PTA, the child who will benefit first and foremost - will be yours!

Please help DCCE’s PTA again in 2007/08 in supporting our efforts to make the Elementary School years most successful and a wonderful, unforgettable memory for each child, by becoming a member of DCCE’s PTA, today. Every individual child is important and therefore, we are asking for at least one $5-membership for EACH child. Furthermore, even Aunts, uncles, family friends, and grandparents can join!

Although volunteers are very needed and appreciated at Deep Creek Central Elementary, we want to point out that your membership does not require you spending and volunteering your time. :) It is much more: your membership will enable your child’s school’s PTA to support DCCE.

Additionally, we would like to invite you to take part in our new “Sponsor A Child” program where you can donate change or even whole membership dues, to less fortunate kids and their families. You can send in the money with your own membership envelope or donate during our upcoming events by leaving it in our donation jar.

To make your decision a little easier, we listed on the back of this letter only a few examples of how DCCE PTA projects benefit your child and did in the past. Furthermore, we will send you one child’s size spirit wear t-shirt with the logo of a previous year, for every two memberships (while supplies last)!

What the PTA does for the students at DCCE

> Purchasing more than 300 books
> Purchasing over 1000 Accelerated Reader tests for the library,
> Providing more than $1000 in AR prizes
> Purchasing 3 picnic tables which are in the playground area.
> Replacing the vandalized Little Tykes slide
> Purchasing planners for next year’s 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders
> Sponsoring The Stinger, the school’s newspaper
> Helping families in need in our school community
> Sponsoring the Student of the Month ice cream social
> Providing 1000+ SOL treat bags, plus pencils and erasers for 3rd, 4th & 5th graders
> Spring Ice Cream Social for members and their family – free!
> Recognizing the Bug Roll and Honor Scroll students
> Donating books to the teachers at various grade levels
> Awarding the $500 Charles S. Brabble book scholarship to a former DCCE student graduating from Deep Creek High School
> And much much more

Another portion of the membership fee is going towards the VA PTA. It’ll be used to advocate on Virginia-wide school related issues, which again comes back to help your child, eventually too. For more information, please visit www.pta.org.
